SAF Webinar to Give Update on US Hemp Program
USDA recently established the U.S. Domestic Hemp Production Program through an interim final rule. The Society of American Florists will provide an update on program details during a webinar on Nov. 21.
“This rule outlines provisions for the USDA to approve plans submitted by states and Indian Tribes for the domestic production of hemp. It also establishes a federal plan for producers in states or territories of Indian tribes that do not have their own USDA-approved plan,” according to USDA.
Growers have until Dec. 30 to weigh in on the program’s interim final rule.
During this 30-minute session, which includes 10 minutes of Q&A time, SAF’s senior lobbyist Joe Bischoff, Ph.D., will present an update on the U.S. Domestic Hemp Production Program, and he’ll give advice on how industry members can ensure their voices are heard on this issue.
- What the U.S. Domestic Hemp Production Program is and how it was developed.
- Details of the interim final rule and pathways to comment on that rule.
- Highlights of the program and the government’s current position on governance of hemp production.
- Insights on some of the potential risks created by the new regulations and the uncertainties associated with them.
